The important of drift and diffusion described as drift is the motion of a charged particle in response to an applied electric field while diffusion is a macroscopic motion due to carrier concentration differences.

in order to produced current, the carriers need to move..there are 2 ways of moving the carriers,1st by drifting the carriers and 2nd by diffusing it..the carriers will drift in the electric field whereas it'll diffuse when there is difference in the concentration gradient =P

DRIFT current due to the electric field. holes will moves in the same direction with electric field and electron in the opposite way.
DIFFUSION due to the difference in concentration gradient. carriers moving from regions of high concentration to the low concentration.
