Salam....
The different between drift and diffusion is based on mobility and diffusion coefficient....
Beside that, drift is carrier motion due to electric field while diffusion is due to concentration gradient...

The equation that relate between drift and diffusion is the TOTAL CURRENT.
We can find the total current by adding the drift current (for holes and electrons) and diffusion current (for holes and electrons).

All the diffusion and drift current density must be sum together to get then total current density..

For pseudo equation:

= qnn + qpp + q Dndn/dx - q Dpdp/dx

Where in p-type material, n and Dn are the minority carrier mobilities and diffusion coefficient, p and Dp are their majority carrier counterpart. The opposite is the case for n-type material.

From the equation, the diffusion coefficients which is due diffusion are proportional to the mobilities cause by drift.

The formula of the diffusion and drift is is not very same.... To know the total of the current, we must to add the drift and diffusion current that is
J(total)= J(diffusion current for hole and electron) + J(drift current for hole and electron)...

in general.current flow is by combination of drift and diffusion.which mean current flows by carrier drift in electric field and by diffusion in the presence of a carrier concentration gradient. the total current flow is the addition of electron and hole current density(both for drift and diffusion)
